| Split green gram | 225 gm | 5.6 kg |
| Spinach | 1 kg | 25 kg |
| Turmeric | a pinch | 15 gm |
| Asafoetida | a pinch | 15 gm |
| Chilli powder | 5 gm | 115 gm |
| Oil (foe tempering) | 10 ml (about 1 tsp) | 225 ml |
| Salt | to taste | 100 gm |
Method
- Wash and soak gram in double the quantity of water for one hour.
- Cook till soft.
- Pick and wash spinach. Add to gram and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Add salt, turmeric and chilli powder. Remove from fire.
- Heat oil. Fry asafoetida and pour over dal. Mix well.
