Method:

  1. Wash and soak gram for 1/2 an hour.
  2. Wash and Soak Rice for 15 mins.
  3. Heat fat, add sliced Onions, Spices and Rice, dal, salt, turmeric and double the amount of water.
  4. Stirr and cover the vessel.
  5. Cook gently till rice is tender, and khitchdi is soft.
  6. Garnish with chopped corriander leaves as desired.
